THREE WEEKS' JOURNALISM WORK EXPERIENCE

Gain Unique Journalism Experience

Passing modules is all well and good, but the real learning experience comes from actually doing it. From the beginning of the course Journalist Works trainees are given a community reporter news patch for a busy regional daily. In addition we guarantee our students three weeks working for established titles. It's a fabulous opportunity to impress editors and add to your growing portfolio.

We guarantee three weeks' work experience for all our students who pass their exams at C and above.

Students choose placements from a constantly updated list. Current placements include:

  • The Argus
  • The Guardian Children's Books desk
  • The Mail on Sunday
  • Reed Business Information
  • Women's Fitness magazine
  • Gay Star News
  • Eastbourne Herald
  • Press Gazette
  • Worthing Herald

Working for a regional daily newspaper, a monthly magazine, and a busy sub-editing hub, you'll gain a unique combination of in-demand skills. Not to mention great contacts for when you graduate.

Here at Esquire we've been welcoming JW's students for more than a year. They get invaluable on-the-job knowledge working at a top consumer title."

It is a pleasure to partner up with Journalist Works. The first intake has been first class and we are looking forward to more bright, aspiring journalists contributing to the Red Bulletin in print and on the web.

Norman Howell, Red Bulletin, Publisher

I was offered a job at the Bucks Free Press (my local paper) and a job at the Reading Post.
It was a really tough decision but I have decided in the last couple of days to take the Bucks Free job. Thanks for all the help from everyone at Journalist Works, I wouldn't have been able to get a job without it.

Andrew Colley, BJW graduate, Bucks Free Press

It's amazing to work at the heart of such a dynamic publication. Red Bull and Journalist Works have provided opportunities that could not have come from any other course.

Tom Hall, BJW graduate, former intern, now staff writer at Red Bulletin
